Five acoustic kits, recorded and programmed by hand.

From the Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums library — the same one composers have leaned on since the GigaStudio days.

Free, and they stay free.

These are five kits from the Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums library — the same library used by composers and producers since the GigaStudio days. Each one was recorded, edited, and programmed by hand. They are free, and they stay free — free to download and to use in your own music, including commercial releases. The sample files themselves remain my copyright and are not for redistribution.

Enter your email and I’ll send you the download links. I’ll also let you know when OTTO is ready — the drum instrument I’m building to play these kits properly. Nothing else, and you can leave any time.

What you get

Five kits, five different rooms.

Dry Clean Stick 3

A tight, controlled kit with the room taken out of it. Sits under a dense arrangement without fighting anything.

Resonant Donut Surgical

Heads left to ring. More sustain and body than the dry kits, with the detail still intact.

Dry and Dirty Donut Stick

Close-mic’d and grittier. The kit to reach for when clean is the wrong answer.

Beefy Room Tuned High Rod

Rods instead of sticks, tuned up, with the room in the picture. Softer attack, real air around it.

Aircraft Hangar Mallet

Mallets in a large space. Slow attack and a long tail — built for anything that needs room to breathe.

What you need

Any SFZ player will load them.

All five kits are in SFZ format, which means they will load in any SFZ player. Two good ones are free: Sforzando from Plogue, and Decent Sampler. Either will do the job on Mac or Windows.

The kits are hosted on Pianobook, along with the rest of my free libraries. You can browse them there directly if you would rather skip the email.
