Short bio

About 100 words.

Larry Seyer is a nine-time Grammy winner, recording engineer, and software developer based in Bastrop, Texas. As an independent contractor he engineered nearly every Asleep At The Wheel record from 1986 through 2007 (all but one). He produced and engineered the Dixie Chicks’ Little Ol’ Cowgirl, recorded GigaPiano for Nemesys, and created the Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums sample library with Pat Mastelotto. Programming since 1984, he now builds music software — including OTTO, “The Drum DAW” — and hosts The Larry Seyer Show on YouTube, Facebook, and Rumble.

Long bio

The full version.

Larry Seyer has been behind the desk since 1971 and playing music since age four. From 1986 through 2007 he engineered nearly every Asleep At The Wheel record as an independent contractor (all but one) — nine Grammys and a wall of platinum came out of that run, several for Best Country Instrumental. Around it: roughly three hundred Texas and national artists, including George Strait, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Lyle Lovett, Don Walser, Manhattan Transfer, and Huey Lewis.

In 1992 he produced, engineered, arranged, and played rhythm guitar on the Dixie Chicks’ Little Ol’ Cowgirl. In film he was re-recording mixer on Before Sunrise (1995) and SubUrbia (1996), foley mixer on Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994), and sound supervisor on the Animusic series.

He recorded GigaPiano I and II for Nemesys, then made his own GigaStudio libraries — the Acoustic Bass with Spencer Starnes, and Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums with Pat Mastelotto — libraries that ended up in Stevie Wonder’s and Hans Zimmer’s studios.

MIDI and code both came into his life in 1984, and neither left. Today he writes C++ and JUCE instruments and REAPER scripts: OTTO, “The Drum DAW”; IDA; the Vector plugins; Sparks of Light; JTF News; and ACIM Daily Minute. He is the author of There’s Only ONE of Us Here (2018) and hosts The Larry Seyer Show, broadcast weekly to YouTube, Facebook, and Rumble.
